There are around 2,400 castles in the Center Val de Loire region, including 842 in the Indre et Loire department alone.
This large forest region is crossed from east to west by the longest French river, the Loire, which is also the only still wild river in Europe. The Loire Valley is the largest site in France ever listed as a UNESCO world heritage site…

Its castles

The Central region, better known as the Loire Valley, is a preserved region hiding many treasures and you really risk falling under its charm…
Famous for its exceptional and magical castles (from east to west, to name only the most famous: Chambord, Cheverny, Blois, Valencay, Chaumont, Chenonceau, Amboise, Le Clos Lucé, Villandry, Azay le Rideau, Langeais, Ussé… ), the region also has many charming villages (Troo, Lavardin, Montrésor, Crissay sur Manse, Candé St Martin….), beautiful historic cities (Blois, Amboise, Vendôme, Richelieu, Chinon…), sumptuous gardens (Le Plessis Sasnières, Chaumont sur Loire, Valmer, La Bourdaisière, Beauregard, St Cosme, Villandry….) and romantic banks of the Loire.
The region also has towns and cities of character where it is good to walk (Blois, Tours, Loches, etc.), an extraordinary religious heritage, with some of the largest cathedrals in France (Bourges, Chartres, Orléans, Tours …).
The central region is a true concentrate of heritage….

Il There are more than 800 castles in Indre et Loire, but only 80 can be visited, most of which are open all year round.
La Maréchalerie is located 25 minutes from AMBOISE, 30 minutes from CHAUMONT, 40 minutes from BLOIS or CHENONCEAU, about an hour from CHEVERNY, CHAMBORD, LANGEAIS, VILLANDRY, USSE, CHINON…

We are also in a wine region, approximately 30 kilometers from the most famous appellations such as Vouvray, Touraine-Amboise, Touraine-Mesland, Coteaux du Vendomois, Coteaux du Loir…
BOURGUEIL and CHINON are located 70 km away. from La Maréchalerie.

Other attractions of the region

There are also many other centers of interest next to La Maréchalerie: listed villages and troglodytes 20 km away, ponds with swimming/windsurfing/water skiing 30 km away, tennis and swimming pool 8 km away, 18-hole golf course 20 km away, numerous 12th century churches with frescoes, valleys, forests, streams…

….. But there are not only castles, wine or classified villages nearby….In the region, you have the Beauval Zoo, the mini castles, the Touraine aquarium, the Chenonceaux boat trip , farmed game reserves, mushroom farms, raptor flights, numerous museums, some of which are very surprising (the inventions of Leonardo da Vinci, magic, companionship, etc.). There are also great shows and festivals in the region: The Semblançay night show here, the Montoire sur le Loir folklore festival here, the romantic hours between Loire et Loire here, and some events like the American festival; from the Tours exhibition center here, located 30 minutes. On the other hand, for car and motorcycle racing enthusiasts, the Le Mans circuit https://www.lemans.org/ is an hour’s drive away….

And on site or in the immediate vicinity, you can always relax in the garden’s relaxation areas, use the board games, walk in the pretty valley that we overlook, hike in the region, go horseback riding (Ecurie de la Borderie 4 kilometers here), fish in the surrounding ponds (fishing for a fee by the day…)…. and for your children, a few swings, meadows for running, animals and a stream for wading and making dams…
