La Maréchalerie was the name of the workshop of the farrier. It was there, in his forge, that he made horseshoes, which he then adjusted to the horse’s hooves. This workshop dates from the 18th century …. After the war 39-45, having fewer and fewer horses, Mr. MOUNIER, the former marshal, began to make wheelbarrows and trailers. He was the first to have the telephone in this small hamlet of about fifty families. It was the 1st at the TRAIL!… And then this workshop was abandoned for 25 years. At the end of 1989, fell in love with this pretty valley, we settled in the house next door…

Renovation of the annex building, making it possible to increase the capacity of the house, with 5 bedrooms on the ground floor and 2 studio-cottages each with an independent entrance, one under the roof and the other on the ground floor. garden.

Installation of a professional kitchen with sanitary standards…. 2002: Compliance of autonomous sanitation facilities: 10 m3 all-water tank, 800-liter grease filter, 100 m2 vertical draining sand filter, etc.

various purchases of plots of land, which had to be cleared and developed ... the area of approximately 1,000 m2 then increased to almost 2 hectares in one piece in 8 purchases over almost 20 years ...
2010
installation of 3 solar water heaters, central wood heating and back-up system with batteries and solar panels. Winter 2011: creation of a bridge over the stream, allowing passage with the tractor and connecting the entire property.

beginning of permaculture cultivation and installation of a bread-pizza oven integrated into the hillside of the garden. 2016: creation of a new outdoor fireplace for an auxiliary Godin stove in the central hall, then creation of an orchard with 25 fruit trees and finally creation of a crossbow shooting range

Purchase of a semi-professional shredder in order to use the shredded material in permaculture and creation of a small workshop with forge and anvil. 2018/2019: Arrival of our 2 dwarf goats and increase in the number of geese passing to a total of around 35 to maintain the meadows ... creation of a small pond for geese and permacultures, fed by one of our sources ...
Today
This old half-timbered farrier from the 18th century has retained all its authenticity with its forge-chimney, its bricks and its beams weathered by time … We sought to give this house of character an atmosphere of another time, thanks to a antique furniture in harmony with beams, wood and bricks … Completely independent of our own home, La Maréchalerie has 5 bedrooms and 2 self-catering studios, as well as a large dining / living room available to all our guests. In this large common room, you can use the kitchen area as you wish, sit in the living room next to the old forge or at one of the common tables, take advantage of tourist documentation on the Loire castles or board games available or even a harmonium that is over a century old and works perfectly… The whole house is wifi…
The property covers 2.5 hectares allowing lovely walks along streams, woods and meadows …. You can enjoy the covered terrace in front of the house, or one of the garden terraces each with furniture and barbecue, wood-fired oven and relax … Children can enjoy the swings, play in the meadow, wade in the stream or make dams….
About the village: Le Sentier was a full-fledged village until 1822. By royal decree, the village was attached to MONTHODON distant 5 km and dependent on a different priory. The angry inhabitants went out of their way to be attached to the village of BOULAY 3 km away, which was in the direction of the city of CHATEAU RENAULT (leather capital in the 19th century) and above all which belonged to the same priory…. Despite everything, nothing worked and in anger all the inhabitants changed their religion and became Protestants !!!!! The abandoned Catholic church was desecrated and sold to an individual. A small Protestant temple was built in the hamlet and the last service was a marriage celebrated in 1981…
